Phlogopite, Afghanite, Calcite, Fluorapatite...a different point of view

Date: Feb 28th, 2026
Locality: Sar-e-Sang, Kuran wa Munjan District, Badakhshan, Afghanistan (See on Mindat)
Size: 5.5 x 3 x 10.5 cm
Weight: 268 g
Description:
White glassy calcite matrix is mainly covered by Afghanite, Phlogopite and several other fluorescent and non-fluorescent minerals in small quantities. Quite common material from Badakhshan!
But due to the presence of different small mineralization, this specimen becomes very attractive when observed under magnifier.
Again, it fluoresces under all three UV wavelengths with different colors.
