Fluorite Crystals on Calcite - Superb Bi-Color Under Longwave
Contributed by: Mark Cole
Date: Apr 13th, 2026
Locality: El Hammam Mine, El Hammam, Ait Mimoune Caïdat, Khémisset Cercle, Khémisset Province, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region, Morocco (See on Mindat)
Size: 3.5 x 2 x 3.5 inches
Weight: 15.9 oz
Description:
It is rare to find two-color fluorescence under longwave UV only. This specimen from El Hammam Mine in Morocco, illuminated under 365nm LW LEDs, has beautiful saturated blue fluorite cubes resting on an exceptionally bright calcite matrix. This piece truly displays best under LW - the SW fluorescence is weaker, especially for the calcite.
