Locality: Rasvumchorr Mt, Murmansk Oblast, Russia (See on Mindat)
Size: 10 x 4 x 10 cm
Weight: 591.7 g
Description:
A “rischorrite” rock with some interesting fluorescent minerals. In what I call the front, there is a nice galaxy of natisite dots, fluorescent bright blue under shortwave UV light. On the back side, some natisite is still visible at the bottom, but what is most visible is a vein of an unidentified green fluorescent mineral, some dots of orange fluorescent sodalite (under longwave UV), and a few little crystal of vitusite-Ce, fluorescent violet under shortwave and midwave UV. The red and yellow colors are artifact of the photograph; mostly sodalite fluorescence overlapping the green or the violet.
Summary of luminescence responses:
Natisite (Mindat) (RRUFF)
- Fluorescence under Shortwave (254nm Lamp/Mercury) UV light: Blue
- Fluorescence under Shortwave (254nm Lamp/Mercury) UV light: Violet
- Fluorescence under Midwave (305nm Lamp/Mercury) UV light: Violet
- Fluorescence under Longwave (365nm LED) UV light: Orange
