Fluorescent Mineral Database

A new secret project! Trying to create a nice Fluorescent Mineral Database (FMDB), which would be searchable by mineral, locality, and luminescence properties. Also making it easy for people to contribute with their own specimens!

Chondrodite, Calcite, Diopside from Long Lake Zinc Mine, Canada

Contributed by: Mark Cole
Date: Mar 11th, 2026
Locality: Long Lake Zinc Mine (Richardson Zinc Mine; Lynx Mine), Olden Township, Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada (See on Mindat)
Size: 4.5 x 3 x 6.5 inches
Weight: 3.54 lb

Description:
Long Lake Zinc (LLZ) Mine – there is some really good pieces to be found in that mine, especially if you are willing to camp out for a few days and do some serious rock bustin'. This is a 3-color piece with chondrodite, calcite, diopside, with lots of hues in between. LLZ rocks do not come small though.

SW fluorescent pictures were taken at ISO-100, f/18.6 for 6 seconds.
