Margarosanite - Franklin, New Jersey
Contributed by: Howie Green
Date: Mar 9th, 2026
Locality: Franklin Mine, Franklin, Sussex County, New Jersey, USA (See on Mindat)
Description:
Margarosanite from Franklin, New Jersey. The first picture shows a beautiful face under shortwave UV. The 2nd picture was taken using the Convoy 365nm LW flashlight. This light has the ability to light up rocks not normally thought to be LW fluorescent. Although not great color, it can be a valuable tool in the field when examining unknown rocks. Any hint of fluorescence means the specimen should be examined more closely under SW UV.
I\'m not sure what the reddish fluorescing areas are - perhaps a Franklin specialist can help?
