Fluorescent Mineral Database

A new secret project! Trying to create a nice Fluorescent Mineral Database (FMDB), which would be searchable by mineral, locality, and luminescence properties. Also making it easy for people to contribute with their own specimens!

Hydrozincite and Smithsonite from the Zorzone Mine, Italy

Contributed by: FMS Admin
Date: Feb 26th, 2026
Locality: Zorzone, Vedra Valley, Oltre il Colle, Bergamo Province, Lombardy, Italy (See on Mindat)
Size: 3.2 x 2.5 x 5.7 cm
Weight: 36 g

Description:
This is a small nice Italian Zorzone Mine Hydrozincite and Smithsonite specimen.
The Hydrozincite coverage and thickness is very high on the main face and it is present in a botryoidal form too.
The other face is non-fluorescent Smithsonite.
The hydrozincite fluorescence is very bright in SW and is also visible in LW and MW.
