Description:
Nice and colorful “fantasy rock” from the Taseq slope in Greenland. We have chkalovite “eyes” surrounded by tugtupite (tugtupite replacing the chkalovite), analcime, and a radial nodule of natrolite, white in daylight. Under UV light the chkalovite fluoresces white/grey under both short and midwave UV, the tugtupite red under shortwave and orange mid/long wave, and the analcime light blue. The midwave photo seems to cleanly differentiate the chkalovite from the analcime. The natrolite fluoresces green under both short and mid wave UV.
Summary of luminescence responses:
Analcime (Mindat) (RRUFF)
- Fluorescence under Shortwave (254nm Lamp/Mercury) UV light: Blue
- Fluorescence under Midwave (305nm Lamp/Mercury) UV light: Blue
- Fluorescence under Shortwave (254nm Lamp/Mercury) UV light: White
