Description:
Not known for fluorescents, Arkansas delivered with this piece of wollastonite, miserite, and aegirine from the Union Carbide Vanadium Mine in Potash Sulphur Springs, Garland County, Arkansas. The mine is the type locality for miserite, the bright yellow fluorescing material that is dusty rose colored in daylight. The wollastonite is a dull brownish color in shortwave, but surprisingly explodes under midwave, fluorescing a bright burnt orange. The aegirine is the black, non-fluorescent mineral. A combination of both MW and SW really shows off the rock well.
