Spodumene from the Haapaluoma Mine, Finland
Contributed by: Mark Cole
Date: May 18th, 2026
Locality: Haapaluoma pegmatite, Peräseinäjoki, Seinäjoki, South Ostrobothnia, Finland (See on Mindat)
Size: 5 x 3 x 5 inches
Weight: 2.24 lb
Description:
The fluorescent mineral is spodumene, but the piece has all kinds of other minerals - quite pretty under white light. I find MW fluorescence very unusual. SW and LW are pretty much the same (brighter under LW) but MW shifts to blue, and more of it. Strange. Fluorescent pictures were taken at ISO-100, f/14.8 for 8 seconds.
