Fluorescent Calcite from the Canal dump (Montrose occurrence), Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

Locality: Canal dump (Montrose occurrence), Niagara Falls, Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada (See on Mindat)
Size: 4.7 x 4 x 6.1 cm

Description:
During many years, this Canadian locality has been quite popular; nice specimens of calcite, dolomite, fluorite, etc. were found there. This specimen is far from being representative of the quality of the specimens that were found there during the most productive times; but since the dumps greatly shrunk over the years, not much better than this is left to be found. Quite boring in daylight, but pretty under UV (best LW). Bright enough for a well-lit display. Since the fluorescence is the same color under each wavelength, only LW, the brightest response, is shown in this post.
