Locality: Chashan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China (See on Mindat)
Size: 27 x 14 x 28 mm
Description:
Nice little specimen from the Chashan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China.
Interestingly, the scheelite responds quite differently under two UVB (midwave UV) wavelengths; under 311 nm it is reddish-orange, and under 306 nm, it is pinkish white. The calcite responds only to midwave; it glows a very weak reddish violet; and the fluorite glows a very weak blue, noticeable mostly under longwave (not shown here - not much to see under LW except the weak response of the fluorite).
