Leiping Lizards--Calcite from China

Contributed by: FMS Admin
Date: May 9th, 2026
Locality: Leiping Mine, Leiping, Guiyang Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China (See on Mindat)
Size: 5.25 x 6.75 inches
Weight: 737 g

Description:
Here is an interesting calcite from the Leiping Mine, Chenzhou, Hunan, China. Not as bright as many calcites from China, this one is multi-color though--a dusty rose in SW, peach, with bright peach phantoms in MW. The third image is an attempt at backlighting it in SW. The fourth image is natural, and the fifth is of the reverse side in SW. Apparently the base matrix is manganocalcite and is blindingly bright.
