Fluorescent Mineral Database

A new secret project! Trying to create a nice Fluorescent Mineral Database (FMDB), which would be searchable by mineral, locality, and luminescence properties. Also making it easy for people to contribute with their own specimens!

Cadmium Smithsonite and Quartz - County Clare, Ireland

Contributed by: FMS Admin
Date: May 9th, 2026
Locality: Sheshodonnell East Mine, Carran, The Burren, Clare County, Munster, Ireland (See on Mindat)

Description:
The Emerald Isle seems to be woefully under-represented when it comes to fluorescent minerals. However, here is a nice little piece from the Sheshodonnel East Mine, Carren, The Burren, County Clare, Ireland. No green, but a nice yellow fluorescence under longwave UV and some bright blue/white under shortwave and midwave UV.
