Locality: Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Winnipeg Metro Region, Manitoba, Canada (See on Mindat)
Description:
Selenite from the Red River Spillway (Floodway) in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada should be on everyone's list to add to their collection. Beautiful in natural light, it is also very bright in longwave UV and reasonable in midwave and shortwave UV, also quite phosphorescent. Some folks call the crystals "duckbill", as they are often twinned. Some specimens often have very large crystals extending from the center ball and are very sought after.
