Calcite - Kamioka Mine, Gifu Prefecture, Japan

Contributed by: FMS Admin
Date: May 7th, 2026
Locality: Kamioka Mine, Hida City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan (See on Mindat)
Size: 3 inches

Description:
Not many fluorescents seem to come from Japan. This one is a very nice, though small, calcite from the Kamioka Mine in Kamioka Town, Nishiyoshiki County, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Though the piece is much brighter in midwave, I think the subtle response in shortwave is much more dramatic.
