Fluorescent Mineral Database

A new secret project! Trying to create a nice Fluorescent Mineral Database (FMDB), which would be searchable by mineral, locality, and luminescence properties. Also making it easy for people to contribute with their own specimens!

Willemite, Fluorite, Calcite - Garpenberg, Sweden

Contributed by: Daniel C. Montero
minID: T48-WAE
Date: May 5th, 2026
Locality: Garpenberg Norra Mine, Garpenberg, Hedemora, Dalarna County, Sweden (See on Mindat)
Size: 10.1 x 3.5 x 16 cm
Weight: 605 g

Description:
Photo under shortwave and longwave UV simultaneously allows easy differentiation of the minerals and reveals patterns in the rock formation, the willemite shows green fluorescence, calcite is red-orange and fluorite is blue. Shortwave UV shows green willemite and red calcite. Longwave UV shows blue fluorite.
