Fluorescent Mineral Database

A new secret project! Trying to create a nice Fluorescent Mineral Database (FMDB), which would be searchable by mineral, locality, and luminescence properties. Also making it easy for people to contribute with their own specimens!

Sørensenite, Tugtupite - Kvanefjeld, Ilímaussaq complex, Kujalleq, Greenland

Contributed by: Daniel C. Montero
minID: DQT-FNG
Date: May 4th, 2026
Locality: Kuannersuit Plateau (Kvanefjeld), Ilímaussaq complex, Kujalleq, Greenland (See on Mindat)
Size: 26 x 20 x 51 mm

Description:
This is a very unusual combo with the rare sørensenite associated with tugtupite.

Its best response is under shortwave UV light, sørensenite fluoresces bluish, while tugtupite is bright red, pink/orange under midwave UV light and orange under longwave UV light.
The tugtupite is also tenebrescent.
