Fluorescent Mineral Database

A new secret project! Trying to create a nice Fluorescent Mineral Database (FMDB), which would be searchable by mineral, locality, and luminescence properties. Also making it easy for people to contribute with their own specimens!

Molybdosodalite – Naples, Italy

Contributed by: FMS Admin
Date: May 4th, 2026
Locality: Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania, Italy (See on Mindat)

Description:
An obscure specimen of molybdosodalite (with vugs) from Naples, Italy. The clear crystals appear to be non-fluorescent and are just reflecting the glow of the sodalite. They are very delicate. Pictures are LW, SW, Natural using a 60mm macro lens at F32 ISO 100. Notice how one area is nonresponsive to LW, but does glow in SW. The SW response is not particularly bright.
