Description:
A single, large, root beer-colored fluorite cube with minor translucent celestine, from the Stoneco White Rock Quarry, Clay Center, Ottawa Co., Ohio. The fluorite shows a strong white zonal fluorescent response with phosphorescence under longwave UV, characteristic of fluorite from the Clay Center, Ohio, location. The celestine fluoresces dim purple under longwave UV. The fluorite shows a blue/white response with phosphorescence under shortwave UV. The fluorescence in the Clay Center fluorites is likely due to the presence of an organic activator.
