Fluorescent Mineral Database

A new secret project! Trying to create a nice Fluorescent Mineral Database (FMDB), which would be searchable by mineral, locality, and luminescence properties. Also making it easy for people to contribute with their own specimens!

Fluorescent/Phosphorescent Celestine and Strontianite, Lime City, Ohio

Contributed by: Chris Clemens
Date: Apr 24th, 2026
Locality: Stoneco Lime City Quarry, Lime City, Wood County, Ohio, USA (See on Mindat)
Size: 7.6 x 3.3 x 7.6 cm
Weight: 180 g

Description:
Blocky, white, celestine crystals, partially altered to strontianite, sit on a light-colored limestone matrix, from the Stoneco Quarry, Lime City, Wood County, Ohio. This specimen shows a similar blue/white, fluorescent response under all UV wavelengths. It also phosphoresces blue/green following exposure to shortwave and midwave UV, and green following longwave.
