Description:
Bubble gum pink colored tugtupite in a white analcime matrix, from the Taseq Slope, Ilimaussaq Complex, Narsaq, Greenland. This specimen shows a beautiful multi-wave UV response. Under shortwave, the tugtupite fluoresces a deep, rich, cherry red color. Some of the analcime is uranyl-activated and shows areas of green fluorescence. There is also a minor unknown mineral present that shows as limited areas of blue fluorescence. Under longwave UV the tugtupite shows a dimmer, orange response, and the unknown blue fluorescing material is a bit brighter.
This fine specimen was collected by notable authority on the fluorescent minerals of Greenland, Mark Cole, on one of his many Greenland expeditions.
