Description:
The Blue Bell Mine, Zzyzx, Soda Mts, Silver Lake District, San Bernardino Co., California, USA, appears to to have become an advocate for the power of the Convoy S2+ 365 nm flashlight. My friend Paul Mestrom found some fluorite that fluoresces red under the Convoy exclusively. Now he repeated that stunt with wulfenite from said location. This lead molybdate stubbornly refuses to fluoresce under all the usual UV-sources, but it fluoresces light yellow in the beam of the Convoy. Yellow is the \"normal\" fluorescence color for the molybdate complex molecule, think of powellite. Paul leads the micromount workgroup of my club, the Mineralogical Society of Antwerp. No need to state the obvious, this crystal is in the order of a few millimeters. Keep in mind that this fluorescence happens under the Convoy S2+ exclusively.
Summary of luminescence responses:
Wulfenite
- Fluorescence under Longwave (365nm LED) UV light: Yellow
