Contributed by: Chris Clemens
minID: NT4-F2P
Date: May 1st, 2026
Locality: Maricopa County, Arizona, USA (See on Mindat)
Size: 29 x 15 x 36 mm
Weight: 17 g
Description:
This is a small, but interesting specimen of fluorescent wollastonite from an uncommon location. Collected from an unknown mine in Maricopa County, Arizona, this specimen consists of white, radiating, fibrous/acicular crystals of wollastonite on an unidentified, tan-colored matrix. The wollastonite fluoresces cool white under SW UV.
Editor Comment (5-1-2026) :This is the only wollastonite specimen currently listed for Maricopa County in the mindat database. This specimen's radiating crystals, white color and blue/white SW fluorescence resembles tremolite from the Sunset South Mine that is in Maricopa County. The specimen may be tremolite and not wollastonite.
