185nm (VUV) light was used to "charge" strongly phosporescent minerals. Top>Bottom: Walstromite, Terlingua type Calcite, Afghanistan Hackmanite, Heated Barite, Heated Celestine, Synthetic Willemite.
Photos were taken at 1 second intervals to show the change in color and the duration of the phosphorescence. Shown is the white light pic, 1/2 sec ond and 4 seconds pics following VUV light.
The orange walstromite contiuned to phosphoresce for almost a minute.
